About National Botanic Gardens, Harare

The National Botanic Gardens are the pride and joy of Harare. This sprawling slice of nature plays host to a variety of vegetation that thrives in the climate of Zimbabwe. The sheer types and range of flora that you’ll see growing within these 58 hectares that form the garden is nothing short of wondrous. Though the majority of plants there are from Zimbabwe and a few parts of South Africa, there are parts of the premises that are allotted to plants from different regions of the world like Asia, South America and the Far East countries.

National Botanic Gardens, Harare Reviews

  • This place must have been spectacular 20-30 years ago. Now it is kind of run down and overgrown, but the variety of plants is a botanist's dream. Entry is cheap. We were the only visitors there. Take a plant guy there. He'll be in heaven.

  • Lovely place in the center of Harare. Perfect to take the children to stretch their legs and play you can also take your dogs here as long as you keep them on the lead.

  • Well maintained for the most part given the size of the gardens and very serene. However the ponds are an eye sore and as a result there are very few aquatic birds. We had a great picnic under a huge tree which we couldn't identify because the label was missing.

  • Always beautiful just the ponds are all dry and upkeep is clearly lacking slightly. Still beautiful with great birding

  • After meeting the great nature, stop by and have one of the best Sadza in Harare at the botanical garden's restaurant
