Due to its proximity to the Himalayan Ranges, the climate of Haridwar is one of extremes. Summer (April to July) has scorching hot days and pleasant nights. Winter (October to February) is very cold, and a light mist occasionally shrouds the town. Monsoon season falls between July and September, river currents become strong and the banks are slippery, so it is not advisable to swim at this time.
The best time to visit is between September and June, in order to avoid the monsoon season. The abundance of festivals throughout the year make the town quite busy, so booking in advance is advisable.
