Chandi Devi Temple - Review

With a glorious idol of goddess Chandi dating back to the 8th century, this legendary temple in Haridwar was redeveloped by Suchat Singh- the King of Kashmir in the early 20th century. One of the prominent temples of Haridwar, this temple is on a hill top of the Neel Parvat and is ideal for a hike from the main city.

Chandi Devi Temple is known as one of the Siddha Peethas (Holy Places where one's wishes are fulfilled) together with Mansa Devi and Maya Devi of Haridwar. It is said that Goddess Chandi fulfills all the wishes of her true devotees. A temple of Anjana Devi (Mother of Lord Hanuman) is situated at a distance of 200 meters from the shrine of Chandi Devi. Chandi Devi is one of the most ancient temples of India.

The rope way ride to the temple is not only adventurous but also offers a fantastic panoramic view of this holy town.

Chandi Devi Temple, Haridwar Reviews

  • It is nice temple built at significant height from the city. The view from the top is amazing. The best part is travelling to the top via a cable car. It is an awesome experience to travel via a cable car. You'll enjoy natural beauty during the journey. There are several facilities available at the top also. Many restaurants are there if you want to have some snack. Monkeys there are very adventurous. They are always excited in items you are carrying. Beware of them and enjoy the beautiful view from the top.

  • You can feel system of vip culture and could find people from around India or sometimes from around the world Nice and vibrant views And Chandi Mata is there the main cause to get blessings

  • I didn't actually go to the temple. The queue for the cable car was very long and we had to wait for more than 2 hours in the oppressive heat. So we decided to just skip it. It would be better if you book the tickets for the cable car before hand so you dont have to wait in queue. And the crowd is less early in the morning between 6-8 am

  • Great spiritual place to visit but we must go via foot cause it will give you natural feeling

  • It's a great trek to the temple, we took the way via the barrage, through the wilderness and it's great. The trek is not tough. You negotiate through small pathways in between jungle which later joins the main road to chandi Devi temple. It's good to visit when weather is pleasant as heat can be atrocious on you. If you're with family take the normal route and don't venture through here. The Mandir is located on a height, line is usually long so you can visit the ridge area and have a panoramic view over whole Haridwar. Must visit for anyone.
