  • The Pennsylvania Icons places on the first floor that has a collection of 350 items that includes events and products that helped shape the evolution of not just the state but the country as well
  • The Village Square that is a life-sized reconstruction of 19th century Pennsylvanian towns and settlements and include a Tin shop and a General Store
  • Anthropology and Archaeology Gallery that covers the Native American history through archaeological objects that include everyday items like tools, vessels and jewellery pieces
  • The Civil War exhibit
  • The Geology Exhibit that has a collection of minerals and rocks and explains the unique landforms seen in Pennsylvania
  • Life Through Time exhibit that is the most popular exhibit of the museum and has a full skeleton of a mammoth and fossils of dinosaurs and other fauna and flora that date back to the time period between the Precambrian and the Cenozoic periods.

State Museum Of Pennsylvania Reviews & Ratings

  • PHMC hits it out of the park again. A variety of exhibits detailing all things Pennsylvania including natural history, local history, manufacturing, travel, commerce, anthropology, and archaeology. The structure itself is a fine example of Mid-Century modern architecture and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. You could spend at least 5 hours here.

  • Won't let you into events if you're not 5 minutes early....no mention of that on the website. Museum has some neat things but is unorganized . You spend most of the time walking in circles trying to make sure you seem everything.

  • Went here, and enjoyed every moment. The vastness and variety of the historical pieces here really made me like this place.

  • Wonderful museum. Its fun, and they have historical exhibits unique to Pennsylvania. They also have an entire children’s section that is really cool and immersive. Highly recommend
