The Chemnitzer Markthalle is a market hall located in the city of Chemnitz. Also known as the Bauch der Chemnitz, this market hall opened to public on 9 December 1891. The building features many elements of neo-Romano, Neo-Renaissance and neo-baroque architecture while the building itself is a traditional clinker building with steel skeleton and black roofing. During the World War 2, this building was used as a warehouse. Towards the end of the 20th century, under the guidance of Peter Waldvogel's, this building was renovated. The market hall opened in 1995 with many cultural and gastronomic extentions but was shut again by the end of the year 2007. Today, the market is open and is fully-rented and houses Poliklinik GmbH Chemnitz, a bicycle shop, a restaurant and the Chemnitzer cabaret.
