The Connecticut State Capitol comprises of some of the most important institutions of the state of Connecticut like the Lower House, Upper House, State Senate, General assembly, Governor's office and the House of Representatives. The building was built from 1872 – 1878 and the architecture is a classic mix of Eastlake Movement architecture stylized with a few French and Gothic elements. All over the structure is brilliant to look at, and is a marvelous work of art. It is also very interesting to see the lawmakers at work in their elements and learn more about the history of Connecticut.

  • The park is clean, walkable, and offers great views of the Connecticut State Capital. There are many photographic opportunities regardless of weather or the season. There is also modern architectural art in the park, so there are also photogenic opportunities in those too.

  • Free tours during world hours. Best days are Mondays and Wednesdays.

  • Great place there is alot to see and learn

  • We went on a guided tour of this beautiful building as part of a school trip. Gorgeous architecture and rich in history, both political and civic. A real state Treasure, and yes, that is real gold on the roof! The tour is highly recommended, you can visit the state Senate and House Chambers.
