The Carpenter Nature Center within 425 acres of land rich in biodiversity is located along the St Croix River and is blessed with a diverse landscape. River bluffs, deep ravines, restored prairie, towering pine groves and deciduous plantation make the region favourable for a plethora of birds like Bald Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, Great-horned Owl and Red-tailed Hawk. A few frog species like American Toad, Leopard Frog and Green Tree Frog can also be seen near the marshlands of Carpenter Nature Center along with turtles like Wood Turtle, Painted Turtle and Snapping Turtle. With a bit of luck, you will also get to see a Bullsnake or Cornsnake while exploring the trails like savannah trail, big bluestem trail, river trail, ridgeline trail and so on.
