La Guarida, Havana Reviews

  • Rustic beauty. Its a three story walk up. Be prepared. But it's worth it. The lobster was too die for. The shredded beef was amazing and so flavorful. Ask to sit on their balcony or visit the bar on the roof. Inexpensive as well.

  • Fantastic upscale food. They have fixed up a large part of a building built in 1913 that must have been spectacular when in was new. The restaurant is on the third floor of the building so you have to be able walk up three flights of steps of rustic grandeur. The food was sophisticated and delicate. My only negative was the chair I sat in was uncomfortably upright and a tad small. Reservations are a must to get in. We took a $10 cab from the hotel National. We ended up walking back via the malacon. Probably a 15 minute romantic walk back at sunset. Very scenic. The neighborhood is rundown but the people were very friendly.

  • Excellent restaurant located in Havana in a renovated building. The building itself is filled with so much character, it’s perfect for picture taking. The food was good. I was a little disappointed I did not get to try to guava mousse but I still enjoyed the overall ambiance!

  • Great option for a drink at the end of the day A unique place were the entrance doesn't give you any clue of what to expect. After a beautiful set of stairs you reach the restaurant, were I haven't been yet. A few more steps and you reach the bar, with a great view of the city, it looks so good the they framed it. Drinks are at a reasonable price and there a few good options of appetisers. It also has a good area to enjoy a Puro with friends. Definitely worth the visit!

  • I had really high expectations for this place and was really looking forward to our meal here. Unfortunately, I was immensely disappointed by the food (and the drinks). While I am aware that Cuba does not have the best options for dining, we actually had a much tastier and richer meal at other, less fancy (but still decent) restaurants. We had the tacos as starters, which were such a disappointment, flavour-wise. The lobster as a main was O.K. and the pork which was recommended, was rather bland. The setting is beautiful, and we had a lovely table. Overall, overpriced for the food and drinks, would probably recommend the place for a drink at sunset.
