Old Havana has the prettiest old buildings and areas. This is one of those lovely old places that are a must see. You will find a Plaza de Armas in every Latin American city built in the old Military style. This is where the parades were held in the olden days.
Today, it is a wonderful social place that is worth a visit. A stroll down this place is a great way to spend an evening or an afternoon. You can enjoy the sights of the older buildings like the lovely Palacio de los Capitanes Generales that surround it and have a quiet and peaceful time at this square in the midst of Old Havana. Plaza de Armas also has an artisan’s market that has great local artwork on sale.

Plaza De Armas, Havana Reviews - Write a Review
Plaza de Armas was our favourite plaza to people watch while we sat in the shade, resting our tired feet. The centre of the square is lush with palm trees and other tropical plants, while the perimeter is lined with elegant Baroque buildings. Plaza de Armas was built in the 1600s and was used for military exercises up until the mid-1700s. After undergoing a transformation, it became popular among rich Havana citizens and attracted people who wanted to enjoy carriage rides around the area. Plaza de Armas is invigorated by the second-hand book market that operates there every Tuesday to Sunday. Here you can browse Cuban classic books, now out of print, magazines dating back to 1940’s and 50’s, and newspapers from during the revolution.
Located in old Havana this antique market offers a nice stop along your journey. With most of the stalls selling antique books and posters it does offer a nice change from the typical souvenir shops hawking magnets, Che hats and street art. By no means the high point of my trip I would say it is worth a quick visit. Like most things in Cuba the price is flexible so do negotiate. I believe the market is closed Mondays.
Amazin square with park inside and many street artists
Beautiful historic area near lots of local entrepreneurs
Nice park, lot of street sellers, selling old items like in flee market.
