The Plaza de la Catedral right outside Havana Catedral is a nice place to spend an afternoon or two in. even if you aren’t religious and don’t want to visit the church, do make it a point to see this lovely square.
If you think about it, other than the gorgeous baroque façade of the church there is nothing very special about the place as such. But visiting the plaza is more about the feel of it than the sightseeing. Even in the midst of the city it is a quiet place to relax.
So whether you take a walk around it, or have a drink at one of the various bars and cafes around, the delicious atmosphere of the place is worth taking in. It has an old worldly charm to it that makes it really memorable and remarkable.

Very nice place and a good hangout at night. There are several nice cafes and restaurants around the square.
Magnificent experience gorgeous church the whole plaza has a huge energy wonderful
Such a beautiful Cathedral, on the outside and inside. It's hosted in a little plaza which is almost always buzzing with people. The architecture is striking, but unlike that of the normal Catholic/European cathedrals that I'm accustomed to. A must if you're visiting.
Beautiful architecture and lovely place to stroll around in old Havana
The Havana Cathedral is the top exponent of Baroque architecture in Cuba.. It is a beatitul building linked to the history of the Jesuist Order here in Cuba. And the square in front of it is surrounded by other houses that now have other functions: the Colonial Art Museum, El Patio restaurant, etc. Also in one end of the square is the Callejón del Chorro (the water spring alley) named like that because the Zanja Real, the acueduct that brought water to the City from the Almendares River, ended there. Right there is Doña Eutimia restaurant, highly recomended.
