Swann Covered Bridge Reviews & Ratings

  • 05/17/2019 A day trip to Swann Covered Bridge. What a great drive and beautiful day for nature. The bridge and the road leading to it are open and in good condition. There is a place for visitors to park on the North end of the bridge. The bridge is beautifully engineered and built sturdy. The smell of the timber as you drive over the bridge is very pleasant. The view of the Locust Fork of the Black Warrior River is just beautiful. The river rocks peek out through the water and invite you for a better view without getting wet. However, if you are balance challenged (as I apparently am), you may want to stay on the banks. I was walking on the rocks and getting ready to take a great shot of the river, when I lost my balance and slipped on a wet rock, and went head, elbow, and knee first into the river and rocks below. I lost my phone from my pocket, drowned my Canon camera, and soaked everything but the top 1 inch of my head. You may think this would have soured me on the experience, but you would be wrong. This days outing and our venue were welcomed and enjoyed, bruises and all. Take a picnic lunch and let Mother Nature sing you a soothing water song as the water rushes over the rocks, and down the river banks. You won’t regret it.

  • Cool historic bridge

  • It is completly rebuilt and looks great. However, it remains closed also the road leading up to it. Just another private project paid with tax dollars.

  • It's great I love it

  • Great place to go for picnic
