You know that you ought to camp when you are the stunningly picturesque alpine village of Georgia. There is no other way to have a rendezvous with nature than camping as you sleep under the starry nights. And since for that you need a good place, Unicoi State Park offers you an answer. One of the most beloved parks of Georgia, the Unicoi state park offers you with a huge area of 1,050-acre where you can carry out your adventurous activities in the lap of nature. Is a beautiful State Park. Stayed n Cottage 4. 3 bedroom 2 baths. It was nice enough but for the money for 2 nights o was expecting more. Cobwebs most places u cant reach. Was very poorly painted on the inside. Gutters are bent on the outside. Cosmetically was a major disappointment. But the beds were comfortable, TV & cable was awesome, the view was awesome. I will come back but with an RV next time
I stayed in one of the barrel cabins for 2 nights. The view of the lake was beautiful and there was a trail that was easily accessible from the cabins. The cabin itself had a full kitchen, TV, fireplace, and central heating. No Wifi was available, but we did have cell phone reception. Overall we loved the cabin, but wished it was a bit cleaner. The staff was super helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay here again.
Unicoi is probably my favorite state park. Smith Creek is a stocked (trout) river which is popular for fishing. The squirrels nest campsite is a unique platform camping area (no tents allowed). There are lots of other activities such as paddle boarding and zip lining. It is very close to Helen so you can also go tubing down the 'Hooch if you want to.
We visited this park three years back and we loved it. The rooms were clean and cozy. Christmas decorations were lovely. The views were breathtaking. Because we visited in December, we couldn't enjoy the lazy river and other water activities. But we loved the beautiful trails. Will be back soon!
