Hernesaari is an island, located in the southernmost part of the city’s downtown area. Although it isn’t frequented by many visitors, development plans are in line to attract more people to Hernesaari. Currently, one of the prime landmarks in Hernesaari is a park called Pyhän Birgitan Puisto which is named after the Swedish Saint Bridget. The park offers some spectacular views of the open sea. People usually visit the shoreline routs of Hernesaari to take a dip in the waters or to enjoy some sunbathing time.
