Kappeli, Helsinki Reviews

  • Overall a good experience. Staffs were friendly and multi-lingual. The atmosphere was really ambient and luxurious. The dishes were great representation of traditional Finish dishes. However, it was too overpriced especially the starters and soups. I would personally skip the appetizers and only order the main dish and dessert. Even with S-Group card I still think the quality does not match the price. The best foods here are the complimentary breads. I would have the black rye bread for the whole meal if I could.

  • This place is actually actually 4 distinct eating and drinking places there is the Restaurant, a Bar, a Cafe and in the Summer a terrace that can accommodate 350 people near the waterfront, Tourist attractions and Ferry. On this trip I went to the fabulous restaurant A place for Gourmet as portions are small There were across the age range, Tourist, Business people, Locals and Families starters can be a little expensive like the Kappeli’s fish selection at €17.50 was really more like selection of finger food. I would highly recommend the soups. Range of main course is very good I would highly recommend that one checks out the menus online Bill for 3 came to €169 this was meals a glass of wine, a shot of schnapps and bottle of water

  • Good pastries and salmon soup (only €10.90 for soup and bread)! Opens early on a Sunday (10.00) which was great. Other places open at 11 or 12, but I got into town early on Sunday.

  • Really nice and cosy place in the very heart of Helsinki. I recommend their different menu-sets if you want to taste different dishes. They also have good wine list! Recommend to make a table reservation, especially during weekends, because the place is really popular.

  • Yes, this place is a bit tourist-y and expensive, but it's an institution. My recommendation is to go to the café side for coffee or soup - every day the soup rotates, and includes rye bread. Considering the location, it makes for a pretty reasonable lunch option. Try creamy reindeer soup on Mondays!
