Senate Square - Review
With the Impressive Helsinki Cathedral forming a gorgeous backdrop for it, the Senate Square is the central and most important public square in the city. Together with the church it is a reminder of the old city that has existed here since.
Other than the Helsinki Cathedral you will also be able to find certain other important buildings like the University of Helsinki’s main building here. The government palace is also close by. The statue of Alexander II sits proudly in the middle of the square and is its striking feature.
The center of the cultural core of the city, it is also often the center point of political as well as social activities. The old buildings that surround it give it a very rustic charm that should not be missed. Do certainly visit this one especially when in the market square or Esplanadi area.
