Temppeliaukio Church Or Rock Church - Review
The Temppeliaukio church is an absolute delight to see in Helsinki. The whole church was carved out of a rock face which makes it utterly remarkable. Visiting the church is like entering a gorgeous cave dedicated to worship.
There are slits in the dome through which rays of light shine through illuminating the entire church. In fact the dome itself is worth seeing with its attractive spiral designs and rocky walks. The temple unsurprisingly attracts a lot of tourists as a result.
The altar is simple enough but when the rays of light fall on the main praying station it is a real sight to be beheld. Certainly a must visit due to its stunning design, be sure to visit this church in the day to see these amazing sights. Also, visit the popular attractions in the city by following Helsinki itinerary 2 days.

Temppeliaukio Church Or Rock Church, Helsinki Reviews
This church is a very unique one. It's constructed within rocks and covered with a very contemporary round roof with enough glass to keep it lit with day light. As it's Scandinavian country the light is not an issue during summer and autumn but to keep place lit in winters it's go enough artificial lights and candles. Mostly it's filled with tourists and timings are 9 am to 18:30 last entrance at 18:00 . There is a massive organ which they use during services. There is also a church garden and cafe.
Nice to look around but not as old as I had imagined. There is a pianist that plays from 10 until 12 on some days and well worth going at those times. If travelling from the harbour then a number 2 tram will drop you nearly outside the church for about 2.5 euros return. Allow about 1hr max for your visit if just looking as there's nothing else there.
Having seen churches in 20 countries, Temppeliaukion is absolutely unique. Set inside a rock face, and underground, it feels rough and special. Then there is the incredible roof, with concentric circles and slats that split sunshine into vertical beams to create a special effect. These is a huge organ, and someone playing the piano when we were there giving a sense for the wonderful acoustics. I wish the tourists were a bit quieter, but that takes nothing away from this must visit church and feel a sense of spirituality (regardless of you faith).
Church of the Rock. Church literally carved out of rock. Apart from the rock part the two highlights here have got to be the dome ceiling which looks like thousands of concentric circles of copper and the beautiful brass church organ. Should be seen whilst in Helsinki and the entry is very reasonable.
The Rock Church ought to be on the priority list of Helsinki attractions. Never have I seen a rock church built in this manner – embedded right into the scabrous bedrock. On the outside is a dome-shaped cap built on rock. Entrance fee is €3. The church hall has a dramatic theatrical and excellent acoustical effect as a lady was playing some instruments to entertain the visitors.
