This Market Square in Helsinki is an amazing place to take in the sights and sounds of the city. The Market square is also obviously a great place to shop or hang out with friends. Surrounded by older buildings and with the cobblestone paths that take you back in time, this place is certainly a must visit in Helsinki.
The market here is fresh and vibrant. Fruits, vegetables and most importantly fish can be found in colorful abundance. Even if you don’t want to buy any fresh produce, walking down the tiny paths amidst the colorful umbrellas is a lot of fun.
There are also several restaurants and kiosks everywhere. Several out-door cafes dot the place in case you want to stop by for a bite to eat. Do check out the fish soup at one of these street food joints as the seafood is as fresh as it gets and simply delicious. There is a wide variety of food joints to choose from as well. Also, visit the popular attractions in the city by following Helsinki itinerary 2 days.

Nice little fish market located between the square and the harbour. You can buy fresh catch directly from the fishermen boats or, on a rainy day inside the indoor market. Here you’ll find restaurants and cafes where to sit and enjoy some traditional smoked fish or meat on bread.
Such a beautiful area! So easy to reach by public transportation. Loved all the yummy food offerings. We enjoyed the pool nearby, that joins the sea. Also liked seeing the cruise ships. We took a cruise to Estonia after our visit here. I would recommend other tourist such as ourselves visit this area for a wide variety of cultural experiences. It will give you many fun times.
Watching the harbor, you can eat and drink easily under tents. Fruits are also cheap. Tasted fried fish was delicious so I asked to take-out.
Be sure to have a 'Finnish-Price-Fitting' wallet with you. If you like to get interesting snacks or buy some little gifts for your beloved ones at home go for it. Nice site, good view. Also a good starting point for a city tour. Be aware of your pockets.....🤔😤
During my visit to Helsinki the Market area was a great place. Many little shops both on land and from boats. There are also great things to see that start from the square.
