Reefworld Aquarium And Shark Swim, Hervey Bay Reviews
Interesting displays of local fish species - note mostly LOCAL fish so don't expect super-colourful corals etc, it's more realistic. Your ticket allows you entry for the day, come and go as you please, this was handy to leave the complex for lunch/picnic/playground and return later at feeding time. Hand-feed sea-turtles at 11am, then sharks & other fish at 2:30pm. (If can't attend both then the 2:30pm feed is best as turtles get involved then too). A little run-down in ways (signage etc) but still value for money at $20/adult and $10/child. Kids loved the interaction. (There is a cafe on site but didn't eat there so can't comment.)
The large turtles out the back are amazing to see and the "touch and feel" section is great. One of the female staff members came up to my daughter and her friend and began explaining and showing them different things - it made the experience very enjoyable and interesting
Brilliant, hand fed turtles, sharks and stingrays. What more could you ask for, for $20 admission fee for adults. It is small, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in great passionate staff who will answer any questions. My husband and I got a personal guided tour with full explanations about their fish. They even have a pool where you can touch fish and coral. Advice, go at least 40 minutes before feeding times, when there isn't many people, so you have time for a chat with the staff. Feeding times are 11 and 2.30, and you can come and go throughout the day if you want, only paying once. We went on a Sunday afternoon and definitely recommend a visit.
We have had a few lunches here and love the food and really friendly service. Some of the tables are overlooking the ocean and it is pleasant watching the boats come in to the marina.
It’s a great little aquarium. Got a tour from the people working there. Learned a lot about the local fishes. Got to feed and touch huge turtles, cod, star fish, urchins etcetera. It’s a very relaxed place. It will cost you 20 dollars but it’s money well spend. You can chose if you want to swim with the turtles and sharks. That’ll cost you about 50 dollars, so bring your swimming gear!
