Located in Hilo Bay, this small island can be accessed only via a pedestrian footbridge from Liliuokalani Gardens. Its Hawaiian name Moku Ola means “Island of Life”, since the waters of the island was known to have healing powers. It was believed that the waters could cure any sick person if he swam around one of the rocks at the eastern inlet of the island. There is a 15-foot stone tower, which is a remnant of the past, which is popular spot amongst the locals to jump into the ocean from.

Nice place for family and friends to do picnics or just hangout and go swimming. Island has a bridge connected to it so it is very accessible even with a person on a wheelchair. Got some good views and nice cool breeze.
Beautiful little place. You can see very old lava flows frozen in time. Picnic spots. Open grassy area. Good swimming.
Great place to picnic and swim. The pond near the high dives contains hot springs!
Cute place to hangout, not super great for swimming. Rocky, but there is sandy areas to wade in the water. Plenty of parking.
Great place to relax and take a load off. Plus they got a tower to jump off of. Completely safe for people of all ages.
