Just north of the Hilo Bay, lies the most popular surf beach in all of east Big Island. The beach is located in a secluded area, with grassy land and picnic tables for picnickers to just stretch out lazily under the shade of palm trees, while watching surfers show their talent. On days of high surf, you might as well find all of Hilo at Honoli'i Beach, either surfing or cheering on for surfers. Being so close to Hilo Bay and an underwater outlet for fresh water, the visibility is minimal here. Thus, swimming must be avoided here. Although, at the mouth of the Honoli'i stream, is a large pool which is horded by fisherman, as well as, swimmers. You will find sea glass where the stream meets the beach and along the pebble shoreline.

Honoli'i Beach Park Reviews & Ratings
I love this beach! The cool water coming in from the river will be nice and refreshing on a hot day. They have bathrooms, showers to wash off sand, picnic benches and grassy areas, and a more sandy area. It's very family-friendly and a great place to learn how to surf/teach your kids to surf!
Friendly, but just be aware of surroundings. Awesome sea glass beach. Take the steps by the no parking area and building below. Has shower and foot wash. Hidden gem of Hawaii beaches!
Great swimming, paddle boarding, and kayak spot. Some fishing. Not good for snorkeling due to fresh water. Some days a mobile shave ice vendor comes and has good prices.
Great beach all around. Not too crowded. Great for people trying to learn how to surf or body board and there is a fresh water river flowing in for the kids.
This beach is an excellent place to find sea glass. Also very Rocky good for making Rock sculptures
