Although it is called a beach park, there isn’t any beach here. Instead, at Keaukaha Beach Park you will find a lava rock shoreline, along which there are several freshwater springs that bubble up from the ocean. The clear waters of these springs are colder than salt water, thus making this an excellent retreat for the summers. The park has a lot of grassy area that makes it perfect for picnickers. The underwater view is excellent, with the coral reef beneath, making it apt for snorkelling. You can even go swimming in these waters, as the ocean is calm here and there is also a sheltered area that would be preferred for kids to splash around in.

  • Where everybody literally knows your name. Home to the 3rd most native-Hawaiian populated homestead lands in the state of Hawaii. The culture is rich and the aloha is richer. There's no place like home.

  • Simplicity at it's finest ✨ Not really a tourist attraction lol.. just a peaceful local hangout without the crowd

  • Great snorkel spot but tons of urchins so you have to know what you're doing. Great spot to see turtles too. There is no sand really, just the typical rock coast.

  • Great swimming and snorkeling. Lot's of parking. Trees around for shade and picnics. 10 minute walk from Hilo Pier and Cruise lines. 30 minute walk from Hotels. Great winter surf on a north swell.

  • Visit the sea turtles.... Swim with them ....awsome experience!!👍👍
