  • I spend three weeks each winter in Hilton Head. As a single man with a dog, activities seem to be limited. Most visitors are couples and/or are permanent residents. What activities are open to me? Thanks.

  • Hilton Head (& also Tybee Island) look so inviting. Are the beaches good & sea safe to swim. Does sea go out gradual or does it get deep quite close to shore.Sorry to ask but I live in England & know the seas are different.

    • All the beaches on the Hilton Head Island are public, though some of them may have private entrances. There are designated swimming areas for Coligny, Driessen, Folly Field and Islander Beaches and during the beach season, there will be lifeguards stationed at those beaches. Swimming is generally considered safe here. 

      But before you visit, make sure you check live weather conditions on apps like The Weather Channel or Accuweather.
