The name of the shrine literally means ‘Shrines for the protection of the nation’ which means a shrine dedicated to the individuals who died in the national wars. There are basically two kinds of Shrine, one that is saved for certain personalities like ministers and others that are not designated. Himeji Yasukuni Shrine is a non-designated one open to both visitors and foreigners. It is a mere 5 minutes distance from Himeji castle and offers a quiet and tranquil surrounding to its visitors. Many of them are also nature lovers who come with the camera to capture its beauty in it. A simple stroll across its compound and a little praying session in front of the local is enough to calm anyone and fill them with peace.

Incredibly beautiful and quiet.
