Also known as Mahayana Mountain Gorge Temple, the place was once the most famous temple in the area. It was a shrine of great relevance. The temple was built in 1477 and for sometime served as a main temple in the area. It was then moved to Kyoto as a capital Honkonji Temple. Its architecture style is that of typical Japanese with a great natural setting to compliment it. Come with your family if you are around the place. It is not very crowdy and visitors can spend some quiet time around, walking and basking in the vibe. The precinct also has a drowning sanctuary tower that is a must visit here.
