Kokoen Garden, Himeji Reviews

  • This Japanese garden is an extremely nice place to go. Cheap entrance. I had a very nice time here, walking through the garden, enjoying the nature surrounding us, and watching the beautiful gold and orange Japanese carps. The place is made of a lot of different gardens connected to each other with different nature themes. The gardens are very well taken care of. This is definitely a place to go as this is part of the Japanese culture.

  • Beautiful gardens close to Himeji Castle. All the classic elements of Japanese gardens are to be found here. A pond with enormous koi carp, beautiful bridges, moss gardens, trained trees etc. If you are any way interested in photography, you will be in your element here. You can buy a combined ticket for the castle and the gardens which is excellent value. The gardens end up costing about 35c.

  • There's incredible variety in this multifaceted garden. Traditional Japanese gardens, a pine garden, a bamboo garden, tea house: it's all there. Highly recommended.

  • Beautiful garden close to Himeji castle area. It has several different types of garden inside and some English information about each of them. Great value for the money, we were and saw also a temporary art exhibition inside.

  • Very beautiful garden even in summer. Close walk from Himeji Castle with a bundled ticket of 1040 yen. If you have spare cash available, you could try splurging on having tea in one of the gardens or even a meal overlooking the largest pond in the garden. Good deal to take a walk through this garden if you are going to Himeji Castle.
