This historical monument is a two-building structure in Honfleur that was once used as salt barns, thus giving it its name. It is very near to the Maritime Museum and the Normandy Museum of Ethnography. The barns were originally built in 1670 using large stones that were once a psrt of ancient buildings in the area. It was used to store salt for the salt tax and stored up to 10,000 tons of salt. The two buildings that have survived till date have been used as community halls for conducting various cultural events and exhibitions.
