Founded in 1886, The Museum of Ethnography is a timbered-framed house that portrays exhibits of life from 16th – 19th century Normandy. The building previously housed the 16th century Prison Viscount of Roncheville. The artifacts exhibited here were painstakingly collected for over a century by Leon Leclerc and fellow members of the Society of Old Honfleur. The exhibits consist of Norman costumes, headdresses, furniture, earthenware and objects from the Norman times. These are arranged in nine rooms in the exact fashion how they were arranged in their time, giving an authentic experience. Situated just around the corner from Musee de la Marine, it is one of the oldest ethnographic museums in France.
