This park stands as a testament to change. Originally a Chinese garrison site, it saw some rough years in the early twentieth century as a triad center famous for its gangs, brothel’s and drug dens. It came to be known as a City Of Darkness, when it truth it was barely larger than a few apartment blocks. The government began rehousing this densely over-populated area in the 1990’s. The shoddy high rises were torn down and the beautiful Chinese-style park opened on April 1994. Today, the Park preserves traces of the walled city, most notably its Yamen, the imperial government administrative building. The park also offers visitors a chance to appreciate the beauty of nature in a place where the darker side of human nature once flourished.

Of course you won't see the Kowloon Walled city (that we still see on postcards and tourist items,) but instead, the park replacing it, inaugurated in 1995, is well explaining the Walled city history. It's absolutely gorgeous and worth the visit, especially if you are from Montreal, Canada (😉)
Wonderful history of a somewhat dark episode of Hong Kong legacy. Well worth exploring the exhibitions, some of which are still under construction. There is a 3-D visual effect one which puts you right in the room.
Beautiful park now but such a dark past. Amazed by story of how drug addicts were saved by faith in Jesus Christ and even released by their triad bosses from triad ties.
It was a very unique wall city in hk. Good to visit and see the pics and videos to know more about this historic place.
Excellent place for everyone. Tourists can discover local living style and historic living place of Hong Kong people which has lots of stories about this place. Nowadays, it becomes one of beautiful parks at Kowloon
