Kowloon Walled City Park - Review
This park stands as a testament to change. Originally a Chinese garrison site, it saw some rough years in the early twentieth century as a triad center famous for its gangs, brothel’s and drug dens. It came to be known as a City Of Darkness, when it truth it was barely larger than a few apartment blocks. The government began rehousing this densely over-populated area in the 1990’s. The shoddy high rises were torn down and the beautiful Chinese-style park opened on April 1994. Today, the Park preserves traces of the walled city, most notably its Yamen, the imperial government administrative building. The park also offers visitors a chance to appreciate the beauty of nature in a place where the darker side of human nature once flourished.

Kowloon Walled City Park, Hong Kong Reviews
On any Sunday or public holiday, Kowloon Walled City Park is the gathering point of choice for Hong Kong's off-duty Thai domestic worker population, much as Statue Square attracts Filipino and Victoria Park is a focal point for the steadily growing Indonesian migrant worker population. Many impromptu food stalls are set up in the park and its immediate vicinity and far more Thai than Cantonese is spoken here. Bangkok's latest pop songs are blare forth from ghetto blasters and a carnival-like, off-duty flavor prevails. By early evening on Sundays most people have packed up and gone back home, but a few revelers can still be found scattered here and there around the park till quite late at night.
Nice large park. Had a small interactive area (air conditioned video rooms)to talk about the walled city. Many Turtles in the pond and the different areas were very nice. There may have been a lot of people there but it still felt secluded.
Excellent place for everyone. Tourists can discover local living style and historic living place of Hong Kong people which has lots of stories about this place. Nowadays, it becomes one of beautiful parks at Kowloon
I have been here for awhile. Came here to take some photos. This place is always quite and serene.
A hidden sanctuary within the city. Peaceful and relaxing place. Good for meditation, reflection and rest. There is also a part where kids can play. Bench are everywhere and can.sit and eat or relax. Clean and safe.
