This is Hong Kong’s expatriate hangout. A small square of streets full of restaurants, pubs and clubs, this was originally the site for street hawkers to set up shop and also for lady “marriage brokers” called “muiyan”. The introduction of a disco in the late seventies put LanKawi Fong on the map, and today this place is a party favorite. It’s expensive, but the excellent crowd, music, food and drink more than make up for it. And considering how close the shops are to each other, it’s the easiest bar crawl ever!
Make sure to visit during Friday and Saturday, when the crowd is intense. The evening is divided into Happy Hour and Spree Hour. In Happy Hour, most bars offer promotions, such as buy one and get one free for drinks and half price for food. Spree Hour is when many university students and foreigners join the group.
- Most bars are closed during the daytime.
- Operation hours vary by business.
- Each bottle of the beer cost HK$ 40 to HK$ 50 generally.
- Some bars may charge an admission fee.
- MTR Central Station
- Tokio Joe : Japanese food
- Hard Rock Cafe : Cocktails and smoked ribs
- Lava : Cocktails

Lan Kwai Fong does not disappoint! It is exactly like what you hear about it. Great bars with either a chill or party vibe. I like how the outside tables still accommodate smokers with some bars having hookahs, which might bother some but it's okay for me since I'm a smoker. Most bars have very reasonable prices for it's location in the city.
Lan Kwai Fong is easily the busiest drinking street in Hong Kong. It has a multitude of Westernized restaurants that turn into lounges in the evening that provide you with a lot of music. As you walk down this crowded street, you will be solicited by promoters and they will offer you drink or food specials which can enhance or ruin your experience depending on your preferences. On Lan Kwai Fong, you will also find the most diverse groups of people on the island, which could lead to some interesting conversations. If you find yourself on Hong Kong Island and want to enjoy a drink, go to Lan Kwai Fong with some disposable cash since you will definitely spend more than you anticipate while having fun. .
My favourite party place. You can easily do a pub crawl hopping from one bar to the next. If you stay as late as 2:00AM you might see some locals doing dance performance or battles in the streets. If you do not want to splurge so much on alcohol, you can just buy from two 7/11 convenience store nearby.
Lang Kwai Fong, The famous Bar area that continually keeps evolving. live music - to rat alley, Le Jardin, is my favorite hideaway. Give it go!
Good food, variety, cheap, tasty. Lot of fast moving crowd. Eat and go kind of places. Not many bars, beer is expensive.
