About Lok Ma Chau Station, Hong Kong
Lok Ma Chau (Chinese: 落馬洲; Cantonese Yale: Lohk máh jāu; pronounced: [lɔ̀ːk̚ma̬ː.tsɐ́u]) is the northwestern terminus in Lok Ma Chau on the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line, a branch line of the East Rail Line of Hong Kong's MTR network, which was built to alleviate the immigration checkpoint between Hong Kong and mainland China's Shenzhen at Lo Wu Station. The MTR Corporation is promoting the Lok Ma Chau Spur Line as a direct connection with Line 4 of the Shenzhen Metro which is also operated by the MTR Corporation. This station, together with the spur line, opened on the afternoon of 15 August 2007. The adjoining Futian Checkpoint Station on Line 4 of the Shenzhen Metro opened on 28 June 2007. Like Lo Wu Station, this station is located in the Frontier Closed Area, hence access is restricted to passengers with a permit or a passport and visa to mainland China. In December 2007, this station was leased to the MTR Corporation, along with the entire KCR network, by the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation, for a period of 50 years.Wikipedia

Clear instructions from getting into immigration to the MTR platform, there are shops outside the MTR gates
Not that crowd in Lok Ma Chau station, but the capacity of Futian station can not cater the high demand of commuter.
If you are going to cross into shenzhen here, pay careful attention to how busy it is. When the border is quiet, it can be very quick, but when it's busy it's common for the Chinese side to get completely backed up. This is a popular crossing point for the mainland Chinese to go to HK for shopping trips, so it's a good idea to avoid weekends and public holidays since it can get really crowded. Adding to this is the fact that unlike Lo Wu there are no dedicated "visitor other then mainland visitor" or "foreigner" immigration channels here, so if it's busy there is no skipping the queues for foreign passport holders. Both sides of the crossing have e-Channel gates, but they require separate registration - the HK side will accept the same e-Channel registration as at HKG airport, but that won't work for the Chinese side.
There is a bit more people in Lok Ma Chau than in Lo Wu, it is always crowded.
