If you are in Hong Kong, a trip on the Star Ferry isn’t to be missed. This iconic transport, founded by the Indian Parsee opium businessman Dorabjee Naraojee Mithaiwala, has been ferrying people for over a hundred years between the Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula and carries over 20 million passengers a year. The Star Ferry is a favorite among the local people because it is affordable, convenient and quick. Ferries run very frequently, and it takes only about 10 minutes to travel across the harbor. In the evening, enjoy the gentle breeze from the sea and the world-famous sights of Victoria Harbor, with a cup of coffee.
Better yet catch the ferry at 8:00 pm, when it will pause in the middle of its short journey to let you shutter off at the nightly symphony of lights show.

Star Ferry, Hong Kong Reviews - Write a Review
If you're a tourist and you have two hours to spare, you need to take this vintage ferry. It's not glamorous, but it's safe and efficient and it's a fun way to traverse from the Kowloon region of Hong Kong over to Hong Kong Island. Absolutely great and iconic views of Hong Kong as you cross Victoria Harbor.
Nice ferry and very historical. The journey is a little bit short but you could do several times. You must do it during sunset time, amazing views.
If you want to get between HK Island and Kowloon, the star ferry is the only way to go. It's fast and it's cheap.
Cheapest and most enjoyable way to cross Victoria Harbour. TIP: Try to take the boat between Tsim Sha Tsui and Wan Chai: the boat turns and the view is way better and longer!
An icon of Hong Kong! One of the cheapest attractions in Hong Kong and one that will have you falling for the city lights. The ferries are all at least 50 years old and a trip back to a simpler time of wood benches and open decks with the sea breeze to keep you cool. Whether top deck or lower make sure to grab a seat by the railing for the best views.
