The Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace is the oldest place continuously used as a Cathedral in United states. The bell tower of the cathedral is the oldest bell tower clock in the city as well!
Originally serving as the mother church of the Vicariate Apostolic of the Hawaiian Islands, the cathedral was dedicated to Malia O Ka Malu (Lady of Peace) in 1840’s.
The relics of Saints Damien de Veuster & Marianne Cope are kept here.
However, the architecture of the cathedral holds its magic- keeping with the Romanesque Revival influences and an elegant alter that gleams in the lights of the chandeliers.

Cathedral Of Our Lady Of Peace, Honolulu Reviews - Write a Review
I was married to Carol Inukai on August 27 1988 and will never forget our week in Hawaii because we were in love )1 she was born in Korea and lived in Hawaii 2) met her in Scranton, PA and fell in love only to start dating and 2 years later were married in Hawaii plus Father Terrance Watanabe was our priest who married us and that time in Oahu was so great and I will never forget the time of precious love ultimately raised 3 beautiful sons who are now older and working in their fields of study. The Church was magnificent and priests, bishops, nuns and secular staff were greeted with hospitality.
I love being here for morning mass at 630a, as it is the best way to begin the day. Please join us!
The mass ceremony is fo solemn; the church choir sings beautifully, feels like angels are beside you singing and you will have goose bumps when they sing; the priest are really awesome, they preach in a way that you will absorb the words of God into your heart:) Beautiful!
Looks beautiful from outside.
This is where I took instruction and was confirmed. The Diocese office is next door and the Sisters of St. Paul Catholic Book store is not far. This is a warm church family and a beautiful cathedral.
