The Izumo Taishakyo Mission of Hawaii was built in the early 20th century by Japanese immigrants and is located at the edge of Chinatown. The Shrine is dedicated to Okuninushi-no-Mikoto and is loved for its calm environment and simple yet elegant architecture.
Even though the place is open all year round, the New Years eve is the highlight of the shrine, when people from all around Oahu come here to seek the blessings of the Deity.
Enter the shrine by ringing the bell at the main entrance and don’t forget to buy a few good-luck amulets sold here.
