The Saint Augustine by-the-Sea has it origins in the year 1854 when Father Modestus Favens built the first chapel in Waikiki. In the late 19th century, the church was used for the first mass for American Soldiers who were commissioned near the Diamond Head.
The church was expanded and later moved to its current location under the care of Father Valentin.
Today, the church can easily be called the most beautiful church in the city. The minimalistic alter complements the modern design of the church while the stained glass that makes the entrance wall, is just as breath-taking.

Father Lane is awesome. Historic and gorgeous and parking in the back
What a gift to God's children this parish is! On our annual vacation to Waikiki we never miss attending mass. Very friendly an accepting congregation and pastor. Have celebrated several wedding anniversaries at this beautiful church. Looking forward to our next visit. God Bless!
Was there for Christmas midnight mass. Beautiful liturgy and sermon.
Convenient Catholic Church near many hotels on Waikiki Beach, but the masses can routinely exceed an hour.
The priests and the ushers were very hospitable with the "strange worshiper" from afar like me! They have made me feel at home in "God's house"! That's what I needed when I came to thank our God for the gifts of life and love even whenever I am far away from my parish family! Thank you , St. A. Parish in Waikiki, Hawaii, for the spirit of unity and universal!
