Located on the Ford Island near the Battleship Missouri Memorial, USS Oklahoma Memorial is dedicated to 429 sailors and mariners who were killed during the 1941 Pearl Harbor attack by the Japanese.
The number of brave lives lost on the Oklahoma was second to the USS Arizona and even though the memorial was built 60 years later, the place still remembers the deadly attack like a fresh wound.
The design of the memorial consist of a black granite that represents the hull of the ship while the columns of white rail evoke the Navy tradition of ‘Manning the Rails’- when the crew stands at attention along the rigging of the ship dressed in their white uniforms in order to display respect and honor. Each rail has the name of the soldiers etched on them- keeping the memory of the lost men, alive forever.

U S S Oklahoma Memorial, Honolulu Reviews - Write a Review
This is the only memorial to the Oklahoma. She doesn't have a marker near the Arizona where she originally went down, which is a real disappointment. The memorial was funded by a survivor of hers from the attacks at Pearl Harbor, so make sure to spend some time there in gratitude to Goodyear. It is emotional to see all the brothers who died together from many families. Do not simply walk past her. Stop and pay respects to her and all her fallen sailors. Well worth the time!
Memorial is small, but visually powerful. A sobering reminder of the reality of that day, made better by its location in front of the battleship Missouri.
Peaceful and serene. Nice walk if you are staying on Ford Island. In front of Mighty Mo
Small and simple but a very beautiful memorial!
What can you say! Thanks for their service.
