The Kapahulu Groin is a walk-way that extends into the Pacific Ocean and separates the Kuhio, Queen’s Surf and Waikiki Beach. The wall was built as part of the Waikiki Beach improvement project on the spot where the Kuekaunahi Stream joined the ocean, crossing the Kapahulu Boulevard which was earlier a swamp area.

Romantic walk along the water. This was how I wrapped up my Hawaii trip. I will never forget the soothing sounds of the waves crashing against the wall. Highly recommend bringing a snack and some earphones to sit and chill by the water here.
Lots of people, but it is the beautiful ocean front of Waikiki Beach. The fountains and statues are very well done, and speak to some of Hawaii's heritage.
Fun place to sit and watch, or hang out when there is waves and get splashed.
The beach here is great for young kids. The wall blocks the waves so the water is nice and calm. It is also warmer since the water is quite shallow. The water goes up to your knees or upper thigh at the highest.
Perfect for kids, the depth of the walled beach area is just right for non swimmers. On the other side are surfing area. Nice viee of Waikiki.
