Anyone visiting Hot Springs is likely to know about this place, either by word of mouth praises from the native folks or by reading about it on the internet. Yes, it is as famous as that. Being one of the top botanical gardens in USA, this beautiful paradise of flora and beauty is renowned among people for its picturesque landscape spanning the shorelines of Lake Hamilton and beautiful Japanese themed layout. Garvan Woodland Gardens is housed in Arkansas University and features more than 128 species of flowers and shrubs along with a magnificent waterfall , unique bridges, and sandstone pavilions, all these canopied with rocky inclines reminding us of the surrounding ouachita mountains and its ethereal charm. Packed with hundreds of visitors everyday, the place is also deemed as an educational niche for explorers and travelers who are interested in learning the different aspects of plant life. Not to mention, the Annual Holiday Lights display that it observes every year, lands it among the must visit attractions in Hot Springs.

Spectacular holiday lighting! Such a different experience from the drive through displays, which are nice in their own way of course - But walking through the gardens and viewing at your own pace was so much more interactive and fun. If you haven't been definitely GO, you will love it! The only reason I gave four stars instead of five, was because of the lack of any type religious display. We did not make it to the chapel area, so possibly there was something there. I've been through the gardens only one other time and that was when the tulips were in bloom (ten years ago). That was also gorgeous. We hope to get to visit again soon.
We had a delightful visit tonight, 12/4/18, with a group consisting of 3 adults two kids and a toddler. There was something for everybody, and the display was truly beautiful. My children and I are currently in from out of town visiting family and I'm so glad we added this to our to do list. Definitely go see the light display while its up! 🎄🎄🎄
This is by far the best place on earth. Very peaceful and zen. There are gardens for miles. It is right on lake Hamilton so you can view the lake while you look at the scenery. The Christmas decorations are amazing and they have lights that go on forever! I’d recommend this place but I don’t want the whole world to know about my peaceful place to relax, because you will all show up and crowd it!!😜
BEAUTIFUL location for a wedding. The church was exquisite, breathtaking, and made for amazing photography. Staff were friendly, and bridal quarters were well maintained and as i was playing the role of a bridesmaid made getting the bride together vert easy. Staff provided wheelchairs if needed as the walk to the church from the parking lot was a bit arduous for those who may use a walker or cane normally.
Absolutely amazing experience. We ordered tickets online and got to skip the line. We expected a lot of kids but there really weren't as many as we had expected. Of course this was for the Christmas lights celebration. All of the light were so pretty and they just made you so happy. They played some Christmas music as you farther in the trail. In total we spent probably at least an hour walking through the amazing trails. We will definitely go again next year!
