My apartment is right next to the highway, the noise is so loud that even wearing earplugs at night doesn't help. It's 3am, I have school tomorrow but yeah I can't sleep. It's affecting my health and my well being. Can't wait until this lease is up. The apartment is nice, we have a nice layout and nice new appliences in the kitchen but this stuff really doesn't matter if I dont have a quiet place to sleep at night.
I am a former resident of Melia for 2 years. As my first apartment ever, Melia offered my boyfriend and I a wonderful experience! Here are some pros & cons about the place: PROS: - Beautiful and clean property! - Close to UH campus & downtown - Racquel, at the leasing office, is awesome! - Nice pool & gym - Security onsite every night (never had any security issues) - Very quick/responsive maintenance CONS: - Rundown area, far from any decent shopping centers/grocery store - Inconvenient office hours (9-5). We were never able to catch them before/after work - No system for packages delivered after 5 PM. They lost my packages 95% of the time. - Weak water pressure throughout the unit & quick to run out of hot water (Only was enough for one person to have a 15 min shower at a time) The property is overall great for a first apartment or if you're looking for a cheaper alternative!
Nice complex (sort of). Very unprofessional management team. Short office hours sometimes even closed earlier. One time I found that no one even opened the office at 2 pm in a Saturday afternoon, and eventually they decided to not open the office on Sunday at all. Different officers say different things. I had to keep coming back to the complex to handle my move-out, because of their worst segregation of duties and not picking up the phone. They don't remind you things you need to know, if you are not proactive it can take forever to get things done. They don't reply to your email either. There's only one reliable person who knows her work in the office. Good luck when she's not there. Noisy neighbors and roaches all over the first floor. Give your money to someone who cares.
I feel safe at this complex. The leasing office staff are very helpful. The only problem I've had is with parking. It's very limited considering how many residents are there. You can opt to pay for a reserved spot though.
Love Melia MC and it was perfect for me moving from a house. Walking distance from work and central to mostly everywhere I need to go…like 5-15min and it’s within the inner circle. The apartments have a newer/unique design compared to other places I’ve seen and includes a spacious bathroom and washing machine/dryer within the apartment. Amenities such as the fitness center (with free trainer), pool area, grills, and leasing office lounge area were already pretty cool and now they’ve made major improvements to all of them…making them great!!! What really sold me was the hospitality of the management and staff. When I first arrived they allowed me to join a complex walkthrough that was about to be in progress instead of having me wait for them to finish with the current family they were working with. Any maintenance issues I’ve had, I submitted them online or by calling the leasing office and they’ve fixed it the same day or soon after that. They’re always nice, they work you to meet your needs and answer your questions. All this is so worth the rent cost, which was already low compared to other surrounding complexes and areas outside the Medical Center. My only issues at first were the lack of parking spaces and the office wasn’t open on Sundays…but they heard the people’s voices and now they’re open every day and the parking arrangements are much improved! I can see myself living here a long time, unless I buy house…which I’m not in a rush to do because of my satisfaction with this place!
