Located in the centre of Tunxi district; now known as Huangshan City; this is a popular hangout. The construction of the street dates back to Song Dynasty (960-1279) and is a replica of the ancient capital of Hangzhou. It later on developed as a distribution centre in and out if the Anhui province during the rule of Qing dynasty.
Paved with maroon flagstones, this pedestrian street is lined with shops on both sides. The shops are two or three storied and some of are as old as hundred years. Shop here for souvenirs, ink stones, brushes, local teas, and Mao badges. There are also two well-known museums; The Tunxi Museum and the Wancuilou Museum are worth a visit.
Many restaurants, tea-rooms and eateries are located on the Tunxi ancient street where you can relish the local Hui cuisine.
