This three hundred acre of land was originally limited to around fourteen acres. A couple named Thelma and Charles Mercer purchased and started developing this area in the 1940s. Thelma, an avid horticulturist, planted trees like hawthorns, camellias, camphor, ginkgo, rusty black-haw viburnum and dogwoods. The government, after purchasing this land in 1974, started developing the area. It is today maintained as an educational horticulture facility. Water fountains and picnic tables make this place lively. You can also take a leisurely walk in the woods and relax.
