Adding music and beauty to the already gorgeous River Wairoa of New Zealand, are the Hunua Falls. This area is a nature reserve, with its origin being from the time the area was volcanic. Lava bombs and volcanic tuff rings are still prominently visible. This has also resulted in a unique combination of flora. Rare herbs have been found in the vicinity which include Callitriche petriei, Crassula hunua, Hydrocotyle microphylla and Oxalis magellanica. One of the highest falls on this river, it has a total height of 30 meters, but several smaller falls also add to this water body. Take a trek through the Hunua Ranges, and enjoy the cool of the water after reaching the destination.
