Built in the late 19th century by the Nawab Vikar-ul-Umra, the Taj Falaknuma Palace holds a number of royal memories of Hyderabad. The luxe palace once belonged to the Paigah family and also to the Nizam of Hyderabad. Today the stunning palace made completely from Italian Marble and gorgeous stained-glass windows, is  a rare historic treat for architecture lovers and to those who are smitten by the royal life in India.

The palace has 60 rooms and 22 halls and a library room that has a one-of-a-kind carved roof made from walnut wood (replicating the one at Windsor Castle). The ballroom is a chapter straight out of a period movie with an unique, manually operated organ. The beautiful billiards table kept here is a twin of the one placed at  Buckingham Palace while the frescoes and gilded decorations seen through out the palace, are as close to plush royal design as you can ever get!

The spotlight however, falls on the personal collection of the Nizam that includes rare paintings, beautiful statues, unique furniture pieces, historic manuscripts and books and a fine collection of artefacts made from Jade.

Falaknuma Palace, Hyderabad Reviews - Write a Review

  • Taj Falaknuma. Go for high tea 3000 excluding taxes. You will definitely like it. If you can't afford can't visit. If you want to go for dinner then it is 6000. This review is for the people in Hyderabad or visiting Hyderabad and not for those staying in Taj Falaknuma.

  • Ultra luxurious place who has deep pockets to spend. Extremely excotic food and liquor. Awesome and royal ambience. The good part is a free palace tour for the guests. Overall a great once in a life time experience

  • Gorgeous property. 19th century Nazam palace and now a high end Taj hotel. High on hill overlooking old Hyderabad. Guests welcomes by carriage drawn by horses, then showered with rose petals. Great restaurants, especially recommend it Indian one. Wonderful spa, large outdoor pool and fully equipped fitness center. Hotel is in fully restored palace of British-Indian design. Wonderful wood paneling, paintings. The bar is a must visit with huge billiards table and dark wood everywhere. Dining room (open only for private events) seats 101 at gorgeous long table. Tours are given by staff of property. Definitely worth 2 or 3 days.

  • A completely faultless performance from this hotel, from the arrival experience until departure. A very warm welcome, friendly check-in, and a delightful room with patio in peaceful and tranquil surroundings near the Royal Park. The staff have all been there since my last visit 10 years ago, and made a special effort to make me feel welcome, and cared-for. A shining example of old school European hospitality. Dinner and breakfast in the Derby Grill were both delicious and service spot-on. Dangerously inviting wine list! The Nardi family should just keep on truckin' and please don't change a thing! The best!

  • Great property which sets the ultra luxury standards and make you feel like a prince once you are inside. Amazing night views and palace residential areas. But I must say that the food served inside the Indian restaurant is not up to the mark. Pistachio chicken served to me was cold, khasta roti's recipe was not good. Good food should complement the luxury standards of the palace.
