Golconda Fort - Review
This grand fortress dates back to the early reigns of the Yadavas and the Kakatiyas, but it gained its acclaim and fame from the time of Qutub Shah Kings. The word literally means shepherd’s hill in local language. The original mud fort was rebuilt by the Qutub Shahi Kings in a psna of 62 years and is one of the most popular forts of India. The unbelievable acoustics, palaces, ingenious water supply systems and the renowned Fateh Rahben gun- a giant cannon is always a fact of wonder for the visitors. The uniquely designed fortress has facility of noticing slightest of the sound created at the entrance right up to the court of the King.
The citadel is built on a 120m-high granite hill and surrounded by crenulated ramparts constructed from large masonry blocks. Outside the citadel stands another crenulated rampart, with a perimeter of 11 kilometres and yet another wall beyond this. The massive gates were studded with iron spikes to obstruct war elephants.
Naya Qila (new fort) is home to a magnificent 400-year-old baobab tree (hatiyan ka jhad: elephant tree), with a circumference of 27m, said to have been brought from Abyssinia by Arab traders. The crumbling rampart here has great views of the fort and tombs. Also, visit the popular attractions in the city by following Hyderabad itinerary 2 days.

Golconda Fort Trips
Without any doubt I'll say that Golconda Fort is the best tourist spot in Hyderabad. We spent a full day here and that was the best day in Hyderabad. The sunset view from the top of the fort was so beautiful. And that was a full moon night. We stayed upto 7pm there so that we experience a good scenic moon above the Hyderabad city. all the bats which hide in the fort during day time will came out around 7pm. It was a new experience which we seen through films. Yes this is the best place to conclude your trip in Hyderabad.
Golconda fort a historical masterpiece in terms of technology and architecture. Fort walls, tomb, mosques demolished but still leftover is much more sufficient to attract tourist. If in large group prefer guide to know the importance and technological importance. Specially echo concept. A well maintain garden and park are good relief in hot sunny day. Drinking water are available in ground floor as well as on top along with small canteen at top. Many passes and beautiful structure best place to spent time with family, friends and parents. You can spend 3 to 4 hours if cover all fort points. All Fort points covered only by walk or tracking so nice shoe wear along with cap is suggested. Preserve the monuments and avoid plastics inside and throwing waste and empty bottles here and there. Use dustbin which are provided throughout fort.
A great spot for people who love history. And a nice spot for couples who would like a take a walk up the fort and enjoy the air. It was not crowded when I was there. The fort has snakes so you have to a bit careful when you're posing for pictures leaning on the wall. As you reach the top, the view you get is amazing. You get see the buildings so small that makes you seem small too.
One of my favourite historical spots, to hang out with good old friends. Many stories untold, one should visit it and explore the fort which was widely spread to huge land. The architecture is simply marvellous, the entire fort being made of stone make it unique in itself. Good place to plan out a family weekend, kind of a picnic. The staffs and people taking care of the monument are too friendly and helpful. Local guides are available to help you find the stories about the fort in a quick session. But remember to bargain on that. I hope everyone should visit Golconda Fort once if they are in Hyderabad. It helps us to know about our history and our past. Hope you guys find my experience helpful and do reply about your experiences.
