The Mahavir Harina Vanasthali Wildlife Park dates back 1975 and was named after Lord Mahavir- the Jain saint. The wildlife park is most famous for being home to Black Buck Deer- an endangered species that is found in India and Pakistan. The park extends to cover an area of 15 kilometre and accommodates more than 80 species of migratory birds along with innumerable indigenous species. The rare Short-toed Eagle is also found here along with partridges, quails, peacocks, doves, kingfishers and vultures.
The best way to explore the park is by taking a wild-life safari that offers close encounters with the majestic creatures and gives you a peek into the animal’s life in its natural habitat. Do take time to see many tree and plant species that are preserved here - Neem, Bauhinias and Acacias among others.

Good place to visit with 👪 family and friends.Kids like to see Deer, Peacock And Butterflies. Kids love to click photos with nature...Deer and peacock...some people do come for jogging here. But they should improve a lot in their services which can help to attract more visitors. Mini 🚌 Bus is available with tickets for adult and kids. This ONLY🚌 bus should be maintained properly with proper seats, their should be some more time for visit. Road has to be reconstructed for smooth drive. Again if food facilities are provided, then it would be an added advantage. But overall it's nice place for Kids to be with nature for some time apart from 📱 Mobile world.
Best place to visit with children. Charge is high. Entry into the park fee is ₹20/- and the safari ride in a van for 10 minutes inside the forest gate is ₹30/-. Rates must be reduced or entry fee should be levied for safari persons. There is only 1 vehicle. It's also suggested to increase the vehicles at least on holidays for conveniency of visitors as there is a lot of time going wasted to wait in queue for their turn.
Park is good and we have seen some groups of Deer,Wild boar, peacocks in this park. After entering the park , visitors have to board a mini bus to take the tour of the park- to see the animals. That is the only way. Bus needs maintenance. Visitors have access only to few yards after which restricted area. No food options. Washrooms are in a bad condition and need maintenance and repairs.
Historical city of Hyderabad has equally enticing natural beauty to capture its visitors’ attention. Established in the year of 1975, it has been named after the great Jain saint Lord Mahavir, in his honour on the occasion of his 2500th birth anniversary. Located in Vanasthalipuram, at a distance of 15 km from Hyderabad, Mahavir Harina Vanasthali National Park is famous for being a home to the endangered species of Black Buck Deer.
We have been coming here since late 80s... This definitely is one of our favorite hang out place. Lot of greenery inside, national park conserving Deers and similar antelope. Safari is available but it may not be a great experience since it's short, bumpy and in pathetic buses... You can take a stroll, carry your own food and water and spend some quality time with your friends or family...
