Mecca Masjid - Review
One of the oldest mosques in Hyderabad and in India, Mecca Masjid lies just 200 yards to the southwest of the Charminar. The mosque is named after the significant religious destination of Islam- Mecca. The bricks of the central arch of this magnificent building were brought from the holy city of Mecca.
The Masjid was the centre point of the old Hyderabad city planned by Muhammad Quli Qutub Shah. Built during the reign of 5th ruler of Qutub Shahi dynasty, Muhammad Quli Qutub Shah, the construction continued for years and the Qutub Shahi family could never complete the construction. Mughal leader Aurangzeb finished the construction in 17th century.

Mecca Masjid, Hyderabad Reviews
This is an active mosque and not so much a tourist place. It is interesting to see how these historic buildings are still used today. There is no tourist guide nor any information on the history of the building. Adequate attire is required. Many birds fly around the shaded area, this should be considered before removing your shoes.
One of the important landmark in Hyderabad. Very beautiful architecture. Very near to charminar . Lot of birds in there. It is one of the oldest mosque in Hyderabad. Better to come by walk . Limited parking facility. Best time to visit is evening . Good for photography. It build in 1694 . Keep your shoes in the entrance .
Waste of time. Outsiders are not allowed inside the actual Masjid. So what is there to see here? You go in. Store your bags. Remove your shoes. And that's it. What next? You can't go inside. So either you just sit there or go back. Skip it.
Beautiful Mosque. Shining in all its glory. Want to feel peace of body and soul do visit this place.
The Masjid is located in the densely populated area of Hyderabad bustling with people all around, selling stuff ranging from jewelry to fruits to perfumes! But the moment you enter the Masjid, there is this calmness which is so soothing. You'd see people either praying or lying on those marble floors.. in meditation. However there were two things that really bothered me. 1st, lack of regular cleaning and maintenance. There were pigeon poop everywhere. Secondly, there should be better security! I mean, the main entrance had all kinds of checking and frisking. But if you happen to come by the back door, you can just enter without any Security Check! That's something that should be looked into.
