Shilparamam Cultural Society, Hyderabad Reviews
Great place to shop for local handicrafts. Shops are well kept. Grounds are clean. Restrooms are available and semi clean. Most vendors allow price negotiation. Foreigners should expect prices to be 4 times the value so offer 1/4 of asking price. Expect to laugh a lot and for both sides to act shocked and disappointed but eventually you’ll get close to actual price. For India, it’s actually a nice casual shopping experience with lots of elbow room! Enjoy!
Beautiful place for all hand crafted products made my skilled craftsman all over India. Open 365 days, though during festive season you get to see more stalls and activities. Apart from shopping, you also have musuems, tribal village, boating, amphitheatre, Bullock cart ride, gardens and lawns. More importantly - all this located in the center of otherwise bustling crowd. Chat and other Snacks available. Entry: Adult 50 Rs and Child 4-10: 25 RS Parking: Car 40Rs.
The village was conceived with an idea to create an environment for the preservation of traditional crafts. There are ethnic festivals round the year.miniature depiction of typical Indian village. Over 15 life-sized huts, authentically constructed out of baked clay and thatch, depict rural and tribal lifestyles and the life of various artisans. It provides a window to rural life for city dwellers and those who have never visited a village before. The museum houses sculptures and life size models depicting the day-to-day activities of the rural artisans.Shilparamam has a lake which also offers both rowing and paddle boating.
This place is good for a fun family outing. There is a indoor boating available. The theme here is of a village style. People moved away from agriculture and village lifestyle can get an insight of the lifestyle. Can take photos and rest in the park. Towards the end there are some rabbits and birds present. Children would like to spend some time there.Great place for shopping. Hand made and architectural wooden products are available there. Parking place is available there.
A beautiful place to get traditional Indian crafts directly from the makers. The prices are lower than elsewhere. The atmosphere is very tranquil, pleasant classical music notes floating in the air, lush green meadows, and hustle of bargains as shoppers try to get the best price possible. The crowds are very sparse these days. Most of Shilparamam is closed (except during festive season or year end mela) and is being neglected by concerned authorities and government. The ticket price is 50 Rs now which is high actually considering the limited number of stalls currently active. The maintenance is not up to the mark. The place had its heydays till last couple of years. Now there are no dance performances, live pottery, wood carving stalls and many more. The current Shilparamam is not even half grand as it used to be. It still manages to attract artistic souls and people who are fond on traditional Indian crafts.
