If you’re a regular tourist, you’ll still enjoy this place so long you don’t get your expectations too high. If you have even the slightest interest in archaeology or history, go crazy. On the very tip of this peninsula you’ll find the last remnants of what used to be an ancient Phoenician settlement. It is perhaps the oldest one on the island, built around 800 BC. It has distinct districts, including harbours, a square and residential neighbourhoods. Stone mills and kitchen implements, including ovens, were found at the site. It’s such an important find that it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999. That said, historical context aside, the site itself doesn’t look impressive at all.
