Down south of Ibiza island, across a strait dotted with little islets, protected by water on all sides, is the most precious natural heritage in the area. For hundreds of years these islands were used to produce salt.  Covering both land and sea in 15,396.90 hectares the park represents almost all of the forms natural and geological features you can expect in the Balearic Islands. Underwater the park is famed for the thick beds of the Posidonia oceanica plant. On land, the flora component represents the 178 species of plants found in these islands. Still, it’s the birds that everyone really comes to see, 210 different species that nest here, or stop on their migrations. Highlights not to be missed include:
