This is a historic estate and house museum that forms a part of the Indianapolis Museum of Art. It is a fine example of the American Country house Movement of the 19th and 20th centuries and was listed in the National Register of Historic Places of US in 2003.

This place was built between 1909 and 1913 for the family of Hugh McKennanLanden who owned it initially and then the whole estate was bought by Josiah K. Lilly, Jr. he was a businessman, collector and philanthropist who later renovated the house completely and also added a number of buildings to the estate.

The mansion and estate now serves as a public museum that represents the era when the Lilly Family resided here and how their lifestyle used to be. As you go inside the house you will each and every object used by them kept just in place and conserved very carefully. The arts and paintings reflect the classic and contemporary choice of the family apart from the house the lawn and gardens are just mesmerizing. The artificial lake, the rock cobbled walls around it and the greenery make it the perfect combination. Altogether this part forms one of the most attractive portions of the Art Museum campus.
