Acclaimed to be the biggest idol of Lord Ganpati or Ganesh,at 25 feet from head to crown, the Bada Ganpati temple is one of the most popular pilgrimage sites in the whole of Indore. According to belief, a resident of the city one had a dream with the god appearing in it, which led to the man waking up and building this enormous statue of Ganpati. The statue is an amalgamation of limestone, mud from the stables of elephants and horses, jaggery, bricks, soil and water from major pilgrim sites in the country and the framework is made of precious metals. This noted temple, albeit small, has masses of devotees thronging the place. Visit to see this iconic temple must definitely be part of your itinerary for Indore.
